Cranham Barn in SummerWe now have a self-contained and stylish barn adjacent to the main house, having its own entrance through a private garden, and sleeping 2 people.  It is possible for you to bring your baby.  We have a roomy travel cot.

The building comprises a double bedroom; a shower room with a luxury power shower; a well equipped galley style kitchen which overlooks the private garden and stunning views of the wooded valley beyond; as well as the main sitting and dining room which is a beautiful and spacious lime-washed green oak frame barn that contains a wood burner, sofa and armchairs and flat screen TV & Radio (with sky freeview package) and DVD player,bbq, games, magazines and books, and guides of local walks. There is a separate parking area for visitors and we provide a basket of logs and an organic welcome hamper when you arrive.

Guests are welcome to have dinner in the main house by prior arrangement.

We are very keen to be as organic as possible and an environmentally friendly place to stay. 

We provide:

...  A natural and unspoilt environment rich in biodiversity for you to explore and enjoy.
     Our 18 acres of land has never had any herbicides or pesticides applied to it and there is an
     an ancient haymeadow, an SSSI of culm grassland, native woodland, breathtaking
     wildflowers, organic vegetable and fruit garden, organic flower and herb garden,
     and fantastic views of the wooded valley and Atlantic Ocean at Welcombe Mouth.

... A totally traffic free, peaceful and beautiful place to stay by the sea and in
    wonderful countryside.  No light pollution at all, so night skies are magnificent.

... A dramatic beach at Welcombe Mouth which you can walk to from our garden in
    15-20 minutes through the valley which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
    and largely managed by the National Trust.

... A welcome hamper of our own free-range eggs, organic homemade bread,
    organic apple juice, fairtrade organic tea and fresh coffee, local cheese and
    a homemade Devon cream tea with our own preserves.

... Organically grown vegetables, herbs and salads in season, grown here at
    Cranham House and for sale.

... Logs for the woodburning stove from our own managed woodland.

... Recycling facilities including composting of your vegetable waste, glass,
    paper and plastic.

... Ecover laundry and cleaning products.

... Charcoal for the barbeque made in the woods of Putshole Farm, a quarter of a mile
    further up the valley.

... Entirely secure and undercover storage for bikes and OS maps of local routes on
    virtually traffic free lanes.

... An on-line mail order list of products available from our Community Run Shop
    which can be sent to you by Email link before you arrive and delivered on arrival
    to help save food miles.

... Supplies of organic meat to order from local producers which can be waiting for
    you on arrival.

... Detailed information about all the local Farmers' Markets including those at Hartland
    and Bideford which are our nearest.
